Here at Harris, Hill and Gibbons, we are proud to offer keyhole spays at our Trowbridge branch.
Keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery is very common in humans and the technique has now been adapted for operations in animals.
The keyhole spay is performed via three very small holes (usually around 1cm diameter) in the abdomen which allow fine instruments and a magnifying camera inside the body to perform the surgery, removing the ovaries only (ovariectomy) with maximum precision and minimal invasion.
This less invasive method of surgery will give your pet:
- Less painful surgery.
- Three tiny incisions rather than one large incision.
- Lighter anaesthesia.
- Faster recovery times.
- Reduced complication rates.
Average surgery lasts between 20 and 40 minutes, often resulting in shorter anaesthetic time. Your dog will usually require three to seven days post-operative care.
The cost of keyhole neutering is higher than the traditional method as the procedure is carried out by specially trained surgeons’ and requires specialist equipment, our prices for keyhole neutering are as follows:
Animal size | Standard Price | HPC Price |
8kg – 10kg | £415.01 | £350.01 |
10.1kg-24.9kg | £445.00 | £374.00 |
25kg-39.9kg | £470.00 | £394.00 |
40kg+ | £505.39 | £422.31 |
Please note, we are unable to carry out laparoscopic spays on dogs weighing less than 8kg.
